More Than A Song

Lost in the sound of silence
Memories echo mute melodies
Where is your voice
When the piano sings no more

As every key was to a lock
Setting every note free
Vibrations trapped inside the strings
The tension and suspension

Soft hammers kick down the scale
Like tiny mallets lined with felt
Beethoven has nothing on you
And the eternal symphony of your life

Cries resounding in whispers
I herald the yearning of a final encore
One last song I long to hear
And yet the congregation sings no more

Even so the message outlives the music
But the tone is a harbor to the words
Voyaging onward into something unseen
As spirits soar beyond the birds

Will you lead the procession of heaven
And usher us in that final day
A unified body impacted by your touch
For every service that showed the way

Will it inspire song or speechless
When God reveals all that's in store
Faithful to the gates of paradise
Where the music fades no more

Every song you use to sing
When sung is bittersweet
Both haunting and reminiscent of
The beauty of your heartbeat

Set to the cadence
The harmony of love and death
The end is but resurrection
When you live on in an everlasting breath

Your legacy is alive
In every value instilled in me at the core
And your voice an orchestra in my mind
When the piano sings no more...
